We’re around a 4-minute walk downhill to the entrance gates, making us one of the closest places to stay for an Open Air Theatre concert. Leave your car at the hotel, enjoy an optional early evening meal or one of our wood-fired pizzas on selected concert nights, then wander down to the theatre without worrying about taxis or concert parking.
And when the final encore is over? It’s normally around 6–8 minutes back up the hill, where you can finish the evening with a nightcap in our bar before heading to bed.
Stay Within Walking Distance of Scarborough Open Air Theatre
One of the biggest advantages of staying at Seaside Hideaway for an Open Air Theatre concert is simply how close we are.
Scarborough Open Air Theatre sits in Northstead Manor Gardens, just below us in North Bay. From our front door on Burniston Road, it takes us around 4 minutes to walk downhill to the main concert entrance. Even allowing for the uphill walk after the show, we’re normally back at the hotel in around 6–8 minutes.
That makes a big difference on concert nights. There’s no need to arrange a taxi to the venue, search for somewhere to park near the theatre or worry about getting the car out amongst thousands of concertgoers afterwards. Once you’ve arrived at Seaside Hideaway, you can park up and enjoy the evening on foot.
We’re often asked how close we are to the theatre, and the easiest answer is: close enough that you’ll probably spend longer getting through the entrance queue than you will walking there.

If you’re travelling to Scarborough by car, parking is another reason staying close to the theatre makes life easier.
Seaside Hideaway has six free off-road parking spaces for our eight guest rooms, and there is generally plenty of additional free parking immediately outside the hotel.
Arrive, park your car and leave it there. With the Open Air Theatre only a few minutes’ walk away, there’s no need to drive down to North Bay or find concert parking later in the evening.

Make an Evening of It
We love Open Air Theatre nights at Seaside Hideaway. There’s a real buzz around North Bay as people begin arriving for the concert, and because we’re so close to the venue there’s no need for our guests to rush.
On concert nights we open the kitchen early, with dining available from around 5pm. Depending on the evening, that might mean choosing from our home-cooked menu or enjoying one of our wood-fired pizzas before heading down to the show.
Gates at Scarborough Open Air Theatre typically open at around 6pm, with support acts often beginning from around 7pm and the main artist later in the evening. Exact times vary by concert, so always check the information supplied with your tickets.
For us, the perfect plan is simple: eat at five, enjoy a drink, then wander down the hill to the theatre when you’re ready.

After the Concert, Just Walk Home
When thousands of people leave the Open Air Theatre at the same time, being able to walk back to your hotel really comes into its own.
At the end of the concert, simply head back up the hill towards Seaside Hideaway. The road is normally closed to through traffic around the end of the show, and the walk back to us usually takes around 6–8 minutes.
We normally keep the hotel bar open until around 11.30pm on concert nights, depending on the finishing time, so there’s time for a nightcap and a chat about the show before heading upstairs.
No taxi queue. No drive across Scarborough. Just a short walk home.
Make Your Concert a Scarborough Break
We have a two-night minimum stay throughout the year, and an Open Air Theatre concert is a great excuse to enjoy a little more of Scarborough while you’re here.
Start the following morning with breakfast at Seaside Hideaway before heading out to explore North Bay. Peasholm Park is just a few minutes away, the beach is around a ten-minute walk, and attractions including the North Bay Railway and SEA LIFE Scarborough are all close by.
